Terms of Service
A short agreement between readers.
Use the site, read the words, and treat the conversation with the same care you’d bring to any sacred subject.
Effective 15 April 2026
1. Who this is
TrendZion (“the site”) is a reading companion for the published sermons and writings of Latter-day Saint leaders. It is operated by John Davenport as a personal project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or authorized by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or any of its officers.
2. What you agree to
By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. If you sign in with X and participate in comments or votes, you are making that agreement on behalf of yourself.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are in a jurisdiction with a higher minimum age for online accounts, that age governs instead.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of anything you write. By posting a comment you grant TrendZion a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display your comment, to store it, and (when you check the “Also post to X” box) to transmit it to X on your behalf. You can revoke this license for any specific comment by deleting that comment. You can revoke it for your entire history by deleting your account.
5. How to behave
Please don’t:
- Harass, threaten, or personally attack any person, living or dead.
- Post material that is illegal, hateful, sexually explicit, or deliberately misleading.
- Impersonate another person, including any past or present Church leader.
- Use the site to spam, phish, advertise, or promote a product or cause.
- Scrape the site or the underlying API at a rate that degrades it for other readers. A reasonable human pace is welcome; a bot is not.
- Attempt to bypass rate limits, authentication, or moderation.
We will hide, and may permanently remove, content that violates these rules. Repeated or severe violations may result in termination of your account.
6. Tone
This site exists to celebrate continuity and growth in a religious tradition, not to put its leaders on trial. Comments that read like forensic examination of prophets, or that personally mock any speaker, are out of place here regardless of whether they break any other rule. Moderation will lean in the direction of charity and continuity.
7. Cross-posting to X
If you choose to also post a comment to X, the posting is done by TrendZion’s backend on your behalf, using the OAuth token you granted when you signed in. You are solely responsible for the content of your X post and for its consequences on X’s platform. Your use of X remains governed by X’s own Terms of Service, which you should read at twitter.com/tos. We do not control and cannot delete, edit, or recall posts once they are on X — only you can, from your X client.
8. The corpus
The speeches and writings displayed on the site are drawn from publicly available sources: the Joseph Smith Papers, the Journal of Discourses (via Wikisource), Conference Reports (via the Internet Archive), and churchofjesuschrist.org. We believe in good faith that our use is consistent with fair use for research and commentary. If you believe specific material should not appear on the site, please write to us at the address below and we will respond promptly.
9. No warranty
The site is provided “as is,” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We don’t promise the site will be available at any particular time, that its data is free of errors, or that any particular comment or vote will remain visible. This is a reading experiment, not a system of record.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, John Davenport and the operators of TrendZion are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the site, your participation in comments, or any cross-post to X. If a court finds we are liable despite this, our aggregate liability to you will not exceed the greater of fifty US dollars or the amount you paid us for the site (which, at present, is zero).
11. Termination
You may stop using the site and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, or remove the site entirely at any time without notice.
12. Changes
We may revise these terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date at the top, and where possible we will surface a note on the site before the change takes effect. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah in the United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute that is not otherwise resolvable will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Utah.
14. Contact
Write to [email protected] with any question about these terms, to request an account deletion, or to flag content for review.
