Privacy Policy
What we keep, and why.
TrendZion is a reading experience, and we try to keep the reading experience private.
Effective 15 April 2026
Who runs TrendZion
TrendZion is a personal project operated by John Davenport (“we,” “us”). We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or authorized by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The site presents public historical speech and writing as a reading companion, not as an official source.
What information we collect
We collect only what we need to run the site:
- If you simply read: nothing that identifies you personally. Cloudflare, our host, handles routine request logging (IP address, user-agent, timestamps) for abuse protection and performance. These logs are short-lived and we do not mine them.
- If you sign in with X (Twitter), we receive from X: your X user ID, handle, display name, and profile image URL. We also receive OAuth access and refresh tokens that let us post on your behalf only when you explicitly ask us to.
- If you comment or vote, we store: your comment text, which word (or the site) it is attached to, your vote direction, and timestamps.
- If you cross-post a comment to X, we store the resulting X post ID and URL so we can display a link back to the original post.
What we don’t collect
- No advertising identifiers, no cross-site trackers.
- No third-party analytics beyond Cloudflare’s privacy-preserving aggregate metrics.
- No email, phone number, or real name — unless you share them yourself inside a comment.
- No passwords. We do not manage passwords; sign-in is delegated to X entirely.
How we use your information
- To authenticate you and keep you signed in.
- To display your comments and votes on the site.
- To post to X on your behalf, only when you click “Also post to X” on a specific comment.
- To prevent spam and abuse (rate limiting and moderation).
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not train machine-learning models on comments.
Where your data lives
Everything is stored on Cloudflare infrastructure (Pages, Workers, D1, and KV). Access tokens and refresh tokens are encrypted at rest using a key held as a Cloudflare Worker secret. We do not copy your data to any other provider.
Cookies
We set exactly one cookie — a short-lived, httpOnly, Secure session cookie — and only after you sign in. It stores a signed reference to your user ID and nothing else. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party cookies.
Your choices
- Disconnect X: you can sign out at any time. Signing out clears your session cookie. It does not delete your account.
- Delete a single comment: you can hide any comment you have written from the site. If you also posted the comment to X, that post stays on X — only you can delete it from your X client.
- Delete your whole TrendZion account: a single confirmation removes your user record, every comment you’ve written, and every vote you’ve cast. Your X tokens are revoked and erased. Posts you already made on X remain on X; we cannot delete them on your behalf, and a link to X’s own post-deletion flow is shown in the confirmation.
Children
TrendZion is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has signed in and provided information, write to us and we will remove the account.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy materially, we’ll update the effective date at the top and, if the change affects data we already hold, we will make a reasonable effort to notify signed-in users before it takes effect.
